Room for one tomorrow, Sun. July 24 Open Boat Bonita/Bluefin
The forecast looks very favorable for offshore fishing the next couple of days. Light winds, calm seas, and any storm activity is predicted for afternoons beyond our return to the dock
Two people have signed on for tomorrow's(Sun 7/24) open boat trip in search of bonita and bluefin. We will be fishing Barnegat Ridge. After a good four day run of bluefin there, yesterday, Friday,we found bonita there, but no tuna. They were mixed in size from too small to keep, up to a 6 pounder. I am packing fresh spearing on board, as well, so if we read them, or get into a good trolling bite in a specific area, we can try chumming for any of the tuna family and catching them on even lighter tackle with bait.
On Monday(7/25), I have one person signed up for what is going to be a bait fishing trip with little trolling on the same grounds, Barnegat Ridge. We might troll while we look for a spot to anchor, but then we are going to chum spearing, fish bait, and jig with light tackle for bonita, mahi, and bluefin. The emphasis on this trip is bait and jigs for those who prefer. There is room for two more on this trip.
It is possible that we will push further east if the Ridge does not produce, but the weather and sea condition will dictate how far. Range is not an issue, the boat can run for a day and a half with the built in fuel and burning fuel is never a concern when it comes to putting fish in the boat. We carry a survival raft and EPIRB to insure our safe return.
Limited to three passengers, these trips are $200 per person. Departing at 5AM and returning at 1 PM each day. All fish are shared among the paasengers. Reservations are required.
